Back to School with Second Harvest

Our team members in Northern California had the privilege of partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank for a summer volunteer event at Katherine Smith Elementary School in San Jose.

Thanks to our volunteers' incredible efforts, we provided fresh, nutritious food to 236 families in our community, significantly impacting their lives.

The families' faces lit with joy as they chose from a diverse range of fresh produce at the produce distribution site, including potatoes, onions, zucchini, carrots, celery, plums, apples, pears, and lettuce. Alongside these, we also distributed staple items like rice, eggs, milk, and chicken, offering a rich and varied experience reminiscent of an abundant farmers market.

Second Harvest of Silicon Valley's mission is to end hunger in the Northern California community. With the help of volunteers, donors, and supporters, they provide food to families, multi-generational households, seniors, and college students. But it's more than just nourishment—they're helping people feel secure and find joy in cooking and sharing meals with loved ones.

Good Vibes & Connections

"It was a very memorable experience being able to serve the local community with my coworkers and getting to know the other volunteers. My favorite part was getting to meet and connect with the members of the community and seeing all of their smiling faces," shares Julia Owensby.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to each and every one of our volunteers.

Claire Turner, Lisa Henderson, Grant Machamer, Julia Owensby, Eliana Pugliese, Talyn Mitchell, and April Word, your presence and efforts made this event possible, and we are truly grateful for your support. Together, we're building a stronger, more connected community.
